Copyrights belonging to ITE

In accordance with notices issued by ITE in February 1982 and April 1986, as a basic principle ITE assumes the copyrights of all materials published by ITE, including ITE journal articles, manuscripts, research group materials, and papers submitted to ITE conferences. This refers to all items intended to scientifically benefit ITE members, and includes all materials published by ITE prior to the abovementioned notices. However, any private rights retained by author(s) in connection with these materials are as a matter of course excluded from this stipulation.
ITE basically considers that the recently increasing cases involving usage of copyrights in connection with electronics are included in this stipulation. Accordingly, ITE will in general assume the copyrights in cases of submission involving the World-wide Web, CD-ROM, electronic dictionaries and the like. ITE requests the understanding and cooperation of all submitting persons in such cases.

Establishment of copyright regulations

In the past, ITE assumed control of copyrights through its published forums "ITE Journal", "ITE Technical Report", "ITE Annual Symposium Papers", "ITE CD-ROM" and CD-ROMs of same, and "ITE Winter Symposium Papers" and CD-ROMs of same. Recently, however, in anticipation of future copyright problems, we have decided to relinquish such control by establishing Author Copyright Regulations and requesting submission of an Copyright Waiver Form from authors.
Accordingly, to avoid any unforeseen copyright problems, and to make clear our policy regarding authors or third parties, we must clarify our intent to protect author rights by requesting authors submitting papers for ITE publication to submit an Copyright Waiver Form.

Gist of Copyright Regulations

  • Rights involving author works are the property of ITE.
  • Waiver rights will be established through submission of an Copyright Waiver Form.
  • The Copyright Waiver Form will not apply for papers unpublished in the ITE Journal.
  • Where authors wish to use rights for other than private use, ITE will release rights to authors where ITE interests are not involved.
  • Where third party interests are breached, authors and ITE will negotiate the matter between themselves.
  • For authors submitting papers after these regulations became effective, these regulations shall apply retroactively.
